If your home has a lead service line, repairs can not be made on them, the entire line will need to be replaced

The Water Company can close the tap at the street and leave you without water if your service line is leaking . The Water Company gives there customer time to make the necessary arrangement to hire a company to do the repairs.

Corporation Stop
Corp stops are installed at the tap into the water main. Their thread pattern must be matched to the tapping saddle on one end, and have the proper supply pipe connection on the other end. The connection for the supply pipe can be a push in type quick connection, a pack joint or threaded.
Curb Stop
Curb stops are used as water cutoff valves at the street or curb, between the corporation stop at the main and the entrance to the customer’s location. These can be used where there are multiple metered accounts inside one facility.
Curb Boxes
Curb boxes allow easy access to valves buried under the street or sidewalk, enabling control of water flow to the customer without delay. Most popular diameters are 5-1/4” (for larger gate valves) and 2-1/2” (for curb stops).
Types K & L tube
Type K or Type L soft temper copper tube is used for underground water services in sizes up to and including 2-in. Long coils of soft temper tube allow underground water services to be installed without intermediate joints.Types K and L tube are available in lengths up to 100 feet (30 m). Longer lengths are available on request. Soft tube can also be bent around any obstructions or unevenness in a trench, and it adjusts readily to ground settlement.
DRIVEN WATER TAPS
Driven taps were installed prior to power tools being utilized. They were actually driven into the city water main using a hammer. There are no threads to hold a driven wet tap connection in place and they are prone to blow out. In addition they are typically too small to properly service a property. The Water companies now want all driven taps removed if found during an ,repairs ,shut down or new installation. The removal process is not that easy. First the water companies will need to close the entire main down ( this can close a few blocks in the area ) Second, a larger trench needs to be made and now pumping equipment will be need to drain all the water for the city main . Once removed a repair saddle will be placed over the exciting tap hole. this process can take from 3-6 hour at an added cost to the homeowners.
